MS at Universities
http://www.msnbc.com/news/956800.asp?0cv=TB10&cp1=1
An interesting article considering Microsoft has funded most of the things I've gotten to work on in grad school. My understanding is that the gifts are unrestricted (though you probably want to play nice if you want to get another gift) and we definitly focus on teaching concepts and not proprietary systems. Even if the world only ever had Microsoft systems, you'd still be in trouble if you didn't learn general concepts. Who knows what MS will come out with in 10, 20, 30 years.
